Waterfront Concerts announced on Monday three new concerts for two different Portland venues this summer. The concerts are:

  • Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle, performing as Colvin/Earle, Sunday, July 17 at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle first met nearly three decades ago as Colvin opened a solo acoustic performance by Earle in Massachusetts. The two collaborated occasionally over the years until finally teaming up for 2014’s “Songs and Stories, Together Onstage” tour, a sold-out run that saw the duo uniting for one-of-a-kind evenings of song-swapping, duets and storytelling. Their debut album as a duo will be released on June 10. Tickets for the Portland concert go on sale on April 8.
  • Southern rockers Gov’t Mule with fellow southern rockers Blackberry Smoke, set for Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Maine State Pier. Despite touring together for the first time, the two groups are no strangers. In 2014 Blackberry Smoke joined Gov’t Mule in Boston, and Haynes performed with Blackberry Smoke on stage at 2015’s acclaimed Christmas Jam in Asheville, NC. This August, they will come together again to rekindle the magic with eleven shows across the United States and more dates to be announced soon. Tickets for the Portland show go on sale on April 8.
  • ZZ Top, set for Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Maine State Pier. ZZ Top, Texan blues rock legends, were set to perform during the summer of 2014 in Portland, but canceled its tour that summer after bassist Dusty Hill broke a hip. Tickets for the Labor Day weekend show go on sale on April 8.

Additionally, State Theatre Presents announced last week that popular indie folk band The Lumineers will play a concert at the Thompson’s Point venue on Friday, Aug. 5. They will be joined by Langhorne Slim and Rayland Baxter. Tickets for that concert go on sale on April 8.

Tickets for all concerts are available via Ticketmaster, online, by phone or in person at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
