Country music legend and pop cultural icon Dolly Parton will bring her “Pure and Simple” tour, her first major tour of the U.S. in 25 years, to the Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor on Saturday, June 18. Tickets for the Waterfront Concerts show go on sale at noon on Saturday, April 2 via Ticketmaster, or in person at Mark’s Music in Brewer. Tickets are $25.75 to $89.75.

From a hardscrabble life growing up with 11 siblings on a farm in Tennessee, to her long-standing musical partnership with Porter Wagoner in the late 1960s and early 70s, to mainstream success in the 1980s including Hollywood movie roles, Dolly Parton is known for her beautiful voice, songwriting skills, colorful fashion sense and commitment to the rural people of the south. Achieving 25 RIAA certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, she has had 25 songs reach number 1 on the Billboard Country charts, a record for a female artist. In 2006, she inducted into the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Dolly Parton concert joins other June Waterfront Concerts including Dierks Bentley on June 4, the Dave Matthews Band on June 8, and the Dixie Chicks on June 16. For more information on all Waterfront Concerts shows, visit waterfrontconcerts.com.
