Waterfront Concerts announced Tuesday morning that classic rock favorites Journey and the Doobie Brothers will play this summer in Bangor at the Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion, in a concert set for Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Tickets for the concert, priced at between $29.75 and $139.75, go on sale via Ticketmaster, Mark’s Music in Brewer or the Bangor Mall, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
Journey played on the Bangor Waterfront for the first time in September 2012. The lineup consists of Neal Schon (founding member and lead guitarist), original member Ross Valory (bass), and longtime members Jonathan Cain (keyboardist) and Arnel Pineda (lead singer), as well as rummer Steve Smith, marking the first time he will perform with the band since 1998. Journey is responsible for countless radio hits, including “Lovin, Touchin’, Squeezin’,” “Faithfully,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Wheel In The Sky,” “Open Arms,” “Separate Ways,” “Only the Young,” “Be Good to Yourself,” and the seminal “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which is the top-selling digital catalog track in history.
Joining journey will be the Doobie Brothers, who have sold more than 48 million albums and have won four Grammies. They have had a number of hits including “Black Water” and “What a Fool Believes.” Opening for both Journey and the Doobies will be Dave Mason, a Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famers and former member of Traffic.
