Alt-rockers Weezer, beloved for their cult classic 1990s albums, “Weezer” and “Pinkerton,” will play a summertime show on the Maine State Pier in Portland on Friday, July 31. Tickets for the show are priced at $55 for general admission seating, and they go on sale via Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. Friday, March 6.

On it’s ninth studio with the 2014 release of “Everything Will Be Alright In The End,” Weezer has cemented itself as one of the most iconic rock bands of the past 20 years. It’s a return to form for the four piece, fronted by singer-songwriter and guitarist Rivers Cuomo, and was produced by Ric Ocasek, who also produced the band’s 1994 self-titled debut (“The Blue Album”) and 2001’s “Green Album.” Weezer is known for its many hits over the years, including “Say It Ain’t So,” “Undone (The Sweater Song),” “Buddy Holly” and “Beverly Hills.”

Weezer joins some of the many other bands booked by Waterfront Concerts for the Maine State Pier this summer, including the Barenaked Ladies, the Violent Femmes and Colin Hay on June 26 and “Weird Al” Yankovic on July 26.
