“The Price Is Right Live!” coming to Cross Insurance Center in April 2015

TPIRL 2Fans of the iconic game show “The Price Is Right” are in luck — the live touring show of the famous series is coming to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Thursday, April 2, 2015. Tickets go on sale soon, via Ticketmaster.

“The Price Is Right Live!” is an interactive stage show that gives contestants, pulled right from the audience, the chance to “come on down” and win appliances, vacations and even new cars by playing classic games from television’s longest running and most popular game show. From Plinko to Cliffhangers to the Big Wheel, and even the showcase showdown, favorite games appear live onstage. With near sold out audiences for nearly ten years, “The Price Is Right Live!” has given away more than 10 million dollars in cash and prizes and has been seen by over a million excited fans of the show.

“The Price Is Right Live!” was supposed to be held at the Collins Center for the Arts in Orono in Oct. 2012, but CCA staff ran into legal problems due to wording on the promotional materials for the show. Regulations vary by state, but generally, in order to give away a prize in a contest, contestants must be informed before their participation that no purchase is necessary in order to compete. If purchase were necessary, the contest would be considered a lottery. Much like its televised counterpart, “The Price Is Right Live!” is a contest that draws a winner based on merit, rather than chance or purchase. The Collins Center did not post on its website or on fliers that no purchase was necessary in order to compete, thus causing the cancellation at the last minute.

Cross Insurance Center staff assured those who wish to go that all laws have been followed and every legal issue has been addressed, well before the show was even booked.

“I can assure you that we, along with the promoter, have researched the laws around hosting an event of this nature at our venue, and we will put all processes into place to ensure that the event will proceed as originally scheduled,” said Global Spectrum’s Joe Imbriaco, general manager of the Cross Center. “We’re excited to bring the ‘The Price is Right Live!’ to Bangor.”
