You make me feel like a million page views — because Culture Shock just passed that mark!

20140929_121005At some point over the weekend, or perhaps sometime in the wee hours of this morning, you helped me hit a big milestone, guys. When I logged into my BDN blog dashboard this morning, I was most delighted to see that as of Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, Culture Shock, your source for the latest news in entertainment, nightlife and pop culture in Maine, crossed the one million page view threshold. Technically, I’m at 1,002,207, as of noon on Monday. While I didn’t reach this point as quickly as my colleague and friend John Holyoke — he hit a million views in February of this year — I’m still only the second blog in BDN history to cross into the seven figure realm. That makes me feel real special, folks. Very, very special. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Seriously. Thank you. I love what I do and I’m so incredibly grateful to everyone for reading, commenting, sharing and being a part of what’s going on. Whether it’s writing about Maine’s music scene (something I’ve done for nearly a decade and love doing more now than ever) giving you the lowdown on what’s going on this weekend, announcing concerts or big events, or interviewing celebrities and interesting people, it’s my job to keep you in the know about what’s cool and fun in Maine.

Let me tell you how excited I was when I saw that I’d reached a million views. At first, I was like:

And then I was like:

And then I worried about how I could get my next million views — is it even possible? Can I do it? FEELINGS. UNCERTAINTY. FEELINGS. FEAR.

WILL YOU STILL LIKE ME NOW THAT I HAVE A MILLION PAGE VIEWS? I’M JUST A REGULAR PERSON STILL! CELEBRITIES ARE JUST LIKE NORMALS. PLEASE LOVE ME.

But then I said to myself “You know what, Emily? You’re going to be OK. You just keep on doing your thing, and people will read it. Here. Have some tea. Would you like a candy? I’ll get you some candy.”

And then back to the party.

Thank you again. You make me feel like a million page views.
