ZZ Top cancels remaining part of tour after bassist’s injury, including Sept. 27 show in Portland

Zz_top_picAccording to multiple media reports including a New York Times story, rockers ZZ Top have canceled the remainder of their 2014 tour, which included a Sept. 27 stop at the Maine State Pier in Portland, as part of the Waterfront Concert Machias Savings Bank concert series.

ZZ Top canceled several concerts in late August after the band’s bassist, Dusty Hill, injured his hip in a fall on the band’s tour bus. The trio of bearded rockers said, however, that they expected to return to touring on Sept. 25, in time for their show in Portland. According to notifications the band sent various venues, however, Hill was not sufficiently recovered to play the rest of the tour, some of which was co-headlining with guitar legend Jeff Beck.

Rescheduled tour dates may be announced in the coming months, potentially for early 2015. For updates on ticket changes or refunds, visit waterfrontconcerts.com.
