maine-lighthouses4. Two fun outdoor events this Saturday. First off, the Portland Greenfest is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Monument Square, and features more than 50 vendors and workshops on all things eco-friendly — from solar and wind power to recycling and gardening. There’s music from the Jason Spooner Band, Johnny Fireseed and more, and there’s kid’s activities too, and best of all, it’s all free. Meanwhile, throughout the state it’s Maine Open Lighthouse Day, in which lighthouses from Kittery to Lubec open their doors to the public. It’s a chance to see the inner workings of these icons of Maine that most people don’t ever get to see. A full list of open lighthouses and times is available on the Lighthouse Foundation website.
