Mt. Desert Island residents and the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce received word Wednesday afternoon that “Good Morning, America,” as part of their “America’s Favorite Place” reader vote competition, would be sending a live TV crew to the Jordan Pond House at Acadia National Park for the Thursday morning broadcast of the show. The winner of the reader vote — for which Acadia National Park is a finalist — will be revealed during the broadcast.

Those who want to show up and cheer Acadia National Park on during the reveal of the winner of the reader vote can arrive at the Jordan Pond House between 6:30 and 9 a.m. Thursday, July 24. A Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce email asked those who want to come out to park at the North Lot near the restaurant and walk down to the boat launch, as that’s where the broadcast will take place.

The “America’s Favorite Place” vote has been going on this summer, and is down to five finalists for the place that GMA viewers believe is the most beautiful, fun or otherwise best place in America. In addition to Acadia National Park, the contenders are the Gulf Shore of Alabama, Chicago’s Lakefront, Glacier National Park in Montana and Lake Tahoe in Nevada and California.

To vote for your favorite place, tweet your choice to @GMA with the hashtag #GMAFavePlace, or post on the GMA Facebook page.
