Round two of Arcade Fire ‘Here Comes The Night’ karaoke competition set for June 20 in Bangor

ArcadefireThe first round of the “Here Comes The Night” karaoke competition — a multi-round statewide contest in which the final winner gets a huge, awesome VIP prize package for the Wednesday, Aug. 20 Arcade Fire waterfront concert at the Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor — has come to a close, and the winners are in. Now, the second round of the competition begins, with a karaoke party set for 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 20 at Paddy Murphy’s on Main Street in downtown Bangor.

The ten winners from the first round of competitions, held in ten locations statewide, all received two tickets to the concert, and are now in the running to win the grand prize, which includes four VIP tickets to the show, a hotel room in Bangor for the night, a $100 gift certificate to Bangor restaurant 11 Central and lots of great schwag from Baxter Brewing and the Arcade Fire. Two runners up receive VIP tickets and a gift certificate for merchandise from the show and for local Bangor businesses.

The ten first-round winners and where they won are:

  • Nick Lisac, The Roost, Orono
  • Peter Lodge, Paddy Murphy’s, Bangor
  • Marie Turner, the Time Out Pub, Rockland
  • Meranda Kimball, Silver Street Tavern, Waterville
  • Dan Williams, the End Zone, Waterville
  • Norita Boynton, the Asylum, Portland
  • Lindsay Miller, Flask Lounge, Portland
  • Brando and Kayla, Pedro O’Hara’s, Lewiston
  • Shayna Harvey, Sud’s Pub, Bethel
  • Suzie Mulkern, the Galley, Naples

arcade fireThe ten winners, or their alternates if they are unable to attend, will each sing one of four Arcade Fire songs — “Rebellion,” “Keep the Car Running,” “Ready to Start” or “Reflektor” — between 10 and 11 p.m. that night. Their performances will be taped, and the following week all the videos will be uploaded to the Bangor Daily News website, and readers can vote on which one is their favorite. The singer with the most votes wins! There will be regular karaoke for the general public before and after the competition, so everyone can join in the fun.

Again, the fun goes down the night of Friday, June 20. I’ll be there, MCing the event with Bangor’s karaoke queen, Marissa Lopez.

Here Come The Night is jointly sponsored by the Bangor Daily News, Waterfront Concerts, Baxter Brewing and Svedka Vodka.
