“The Nite Show” nominated for two New England Emmy Awards

niteshowBangor-based late night talk show “The Nite Show with Danny Cashman” has been nominated for two New England EMMY Awards. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences released the list of nominees Wednesday night, which includes entries from all over New England.
“The Nite Show” was nominated in the category of Musical Composition/Arrangement for the parody song “Call Me, Jimmy.” The Nite Show’s house band, Jump City Jazz Band, performed the song on classroom instruments, while lyrics were sung by Christie Robinson and Cashman. Jump City Jazz Band’s bass player arranged the parody for classroom instruments, and earned the nomination. The song was used as a musical follow-up invitation to Jimmy Fallon to appear on the show.

“It is extremely humbling to be recognized by this group,” said Nite Show host Dan Cashman. “I would say that it’s humbling to be recognized by our peers, but I wouldn’t want to insult the people doing the judging. We hold the Academy in such high regard, and we are deeply honored to be recognized with such a talented pool of nominees.”
Host Dan Cashman was also nominated in the category of Program Host/Moderator. Cashman is up against a number of news anchors and hosts of food programs region-wide.
“I’m hoping that an Emmy nomination – or, a win – for a song about Jimmy Fallon might catch his eye,” said Cashman.
“The Nite Show” is normally broadcast statewide on Saturday nights. The show runs in Bangor Saturday nights at 11:30 on WABI (CBS), in Portland Saturday nights at 10 on WPXT (CW), and in Presque Isle on WAGM Fox 8 (Fox). Tickets for future shows are available by e-mailing tickets@theniteshowmaine.com.  The next live taping of “The Nite Show” is set for Wednesday, April 29 at the show’s home base of the Next Generation Theatre in Brewer; plans to move operations to the Gracie Theatre at Husson University are set for later in 2014.
