Forbes Magazine names downtown Portland one of America’s “best hipster neighborhoods”

Forbes Magazine published a list of the 20 best hipster neighborhoods in America, and by golly, downtown Portland came in at number 11! Forbes ranked Portland so high because, as it stated, it’s

One of New England’s hippest hoods. Downtown Portland dishes out an eclectic arts scene that includes the First Friday Art Walk. Caffeine fixes are best satiated at Coffee By Design, several microbreweries offer stronger libations, and fresh food ingredients can be had at the farmers market.

Forbes ranked the Silver Lake neighborhood in Los Angeles at number one in their list of hip hoods. It should be noted that, according to Forbes, Portland is cooler than neighborhoods in time-honored hipster enclaves, including ones in Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Atlanta. But – again, according to Forbes – it is not as cool as Williamsburg in Brooklyn, or the Mission District in San Francisco, or the other Portland in Oregon.
