MDI Ice Cream to be featured on “The View” next week

Linda Parker, owner of Mount Desert Island Ice Cream in Bar Harbor, will be a featured guest on “The View” on ABC on Tuesday, July 3. Parker and her frozen treats will be on the show, aired at 11 a.m. weekdays, in a segment on the best ice cream in America. Parker taped the segment two weeks ago in New York City.

MDI Ice Cream is known for its creative flavors – from blackstrap molasses banana to Atlantic Brewing Stout with fudge, as well as traditional flavors like pistachio and strawberry. There are two locations in Bar Harbor, on Firefly Lane and Main Street, and one in Portland on Exchange Street.

Mount Desert Island Ice Cream came to national attention two summers again, when President Obama and his family vacationed on the Island in July 2010 and famously got ice cream at the business’ Main Street location. President Obama had coconut, Michelle Obama had chocolate, and daughters Malia and Sasha had cookies and cream and Candy Shoppe, a flavor packed with a variety of crushed candies.
