National food blog has lots of ‘opinions’ on Maine restaurants

Opinionated About Dining, a popular food blog, released its 2012 Best Restaurant survey, which asks over 3,000 foodies — from bloggers and writers to those who registered with the site — to give their opinions about restaurants of all types, all over the country. Maine restaurants did remarkably well overall.

For the New England regional rankings, Miyake in Portland came in third place, followed by Hugo’s in Portland, which came in fourth. both in Portland. The Boston restaurants Uni and O Ya came in first and second. Fore Street in Portland is eighth on the list, and Primo and Suzuki’s Sushi Bar, both in Rockland, are numbers nine and ten. Intimate Italian restaurant Bresca in Portland came in at 14, and the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound in Trenton is number 19.

Other, more specific listings include the Best Bistros and Trattorias nationwide, which includes Paciarino in Portland at number 19, and Bresca at 6. For Mediterranean restaurants, Emilitsa in Portland came in at number 15 nationwide. For Italian restaurants, Primo in Rockland comes in at number 10, and for Progressive restaurants — modernist, if you will — Hugo’s in Portland lands at 16. In Japanese restaurants, Miyake is ranked at 11 nationwide. Fore Street in Portland came in at 7 for American Regional restaurants. And, for straight up steak and seafood restaurants, Trenton Bridge comes in at number 11.
