KahBang Arts, the nonprofit wing of the KahBang Festival, announced Tuesday afternoon it’s spring events, including an art gallery at Mezzenine and Zen in downtown Bangor, and 18 accompanying showcases featuring Maine bands. They were responsible for last year’s successful Kaleidescope Gallery at One Merchant Plaza (pictured at left). The full press released is included below.
KahBang Arts is excited to celebrate its one year milestone with the announcement of its annual Spring Gallery.
The Spring Gallery will take a look at the works of five women in varying mediums. The selected artists are Emma Sampson, Abbeth Russell, Lisa B. Martin, Stacy Howe, and Lori Leonard. These artists have roots across New England; more information about artists, past and present, can be found online.
With a heightened focus on diverse and upcoming musicians, the Spring Gallery will also serve as a stage for eighteen showcases from bands, DJs and musicians from greater Bangor, Portland and Boston including When Particles Collide, The Milkman’s Union, Jacob Augustine, The Mallett Brothers Band and The 220s. The full line up can be found at http://www.kahbangarts.org/category/events/.
KahBang Arts has partnered with several local organizations to host events during the gallery including Bangor Greendrinks on March 13th, and a charity Masquerade Ball with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra on March 31st to benefit Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra scholarship programs.
In addition – KahBang Arts, the nonprofit organization of the KahBang Music|Art|Film Festival, has posted an open call and is now accepting artist submissions for the 2012 KahBang Art Festival, August 9th – 12th in downtown Bangor, Maine and on its waterfront festival grounds. Artists are urged to submit online at www.kahbangarts.org.
Bangor based KahBang Arts is a nonprofit dedicated to the discovery, development and support of independent artists. As part of our mission we forge partnerships and create relationships with venues & building owners to take empty spaces and create pop-up galleries to showcase emerging talent in the arts.
The Spring Gallery will be open daily for viewing and exhibits from March 10th thru April 7th in The MezZENine at Zen Asian Bistro (2nd floor) in Downtown Bangor. Hours, list of performers, our full calendar of events, and collaborations can be found on our website www.kahbangarts.org.
